Özet:

Objective: This research was aimed at evaluating the nature of the events in terms of forensic physics by retrospectively researching all the news published in the mass media about cases related to falls from height in different regions of Turkey. Material and Method: In this study, fall from height cases published in mass media in Turkey between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2020 were included. Demographic data on the cases, the nature of the event, and regional and seasonal distribution were evaluated. It was examined whether there was evidence of the cases. Results: The median age of a total of 666 cases was 30 years age range 099 years, and 66.2 were male. Cases were highest in the 2140 age range 32.4. Accidents were common among the cases where the cause of the fall was identified. Those who fell between 20 and 40 metres heights above occured for 66.7 of the fatal occurrences. Case evidence was detected in only 6.8 of cases. Conclusion: This study showed that the cause of the fall could not be determined in 69.2 of the cases. It has been determined that accident is the most common cause of falls among known reasons. It is important to record the crime scene with accurate data, especially when identifying suicide and murder. Case evidence was detected in only 6.8 of cases.
