Özet:

This study examines the presence of symbolic structures that shape the urban image in digital simulation games. Since the advancement of computer and gaming console technologies in the 20th century, digital games have served various functions, including entertainment, education, and socialization. Among different game genres, simulation games stand out for their realistic reenactments of real-life roles and environments, often incorporating elements of actual urban spaces. This research aims to compare the presence of symbolic structures in digital simulation games. Using the case study method, it analyzes symbolic buildings in selected cities within a video game and compares them to their real-world counterparts. The study, conducted on Euro Truck Simulator 2, reveals that developers have increasingly emphasized symbolic urban elements over time. The findings highlight the importance of these elements in game environments and contribute to the academic discussion on the relationship between urban imagery, symbolic structures, and digital game design. By examining how digital games integrate and represent urban symbols, this study provides insights into their role in shaping virtual urban experiences and contributes to future research on city image and game design.
