 Aim: This study aimed to assess the knowledge levels and educational needs of middle adolescents regarding Human Papilloma Virus HPV vaccine. Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted between May and June 2024 with 285 students from an Anatolian High School in Mersin province. Data were collected using a descriptive form for sociodemographic characteristics and an information form on HPV vaccination. Analyses were performed using IBM SPSS Statistics 23.0, with descriptive statistics, independent sample t-tests, and One-Way ANOVA tests applied. A p-value of 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: More than half of the students 50.3 had heard about HPV infection, and 55.6 were aware of the HPV vaccine, yet only 3.5 had been vaccinated. Among the participants, 59.4 expressed a willingness to be vaccinated. Students exhibited moderate knowledge levels about HPV, and those with prior information about the infection and vaccine had significantly higher knowledge scores. Social media was identified as the primary source of information for 33.2 of students, while only 2.4 obtained information from healthcare professionals. Conclusion: The findings revealed that high school students possess a moderate understanding of HPV infection and vaccination and require additional education on the topic. It has been determined that high school students use social media as a source of information, and comprehensive, innovative, and social media tools should be developed to increase their level of knowledge about HPV infection and vaccine.

 Amaç: Bu çalışma orta adölesanların HPV aşısı hakkındaki bilgi düzeylerini ve eğitim gereksinimlerini değerlendirmek amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Yöntem: Kesitsel tasarımdaki araştırmanın verileri Mayıs-Haziran 2024 tarihleri arasında elde edilmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemini Mersin iline ait bir ilçede yer alan bir lisenin öğrencileri oluşturmuştur n285. Araştırma verilerinin toplanmasında; öğrencilerin sosyodemografik özelliklerini sorgulayan tanıtıcı bilgi formu ve HPV aşısı hakkında bilgi formu kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizi IBM SPSS Statistics 23.0 programında gerçekleştirilmiş olup; tanımlayıcı istatistikler, bağımsız örneklem t-testi ve One-Way ANOVA testi kullanılarak değerlendirilmiştir. İstatistiksel anlamlılık düzeyi p0.05 olarak kabul edilmiştir. Bulgular: Öğrencilerin yarısından fazlası HPV enfeksiyonunu 50.3 ve HPV aşısını 55.6 duymuş; 3.5i HPV aşısı olmuştur. Öğrencilerin 59.4ü aşı olmayı istemektedir. Öğrencilerin HPV hakkında bilgileri orta düzeyde olup, HPV enfeksiyonunu ve aşısını duyan öğrencilerin bilgi düzeyleri anlamlı derecede yüksektir. Öğrencilerin  33.2si sosyal medyadan bilgi edinmiş, ancak sağlık personelinden bilgi alma oranı 2.4 olarak oldukça düşük bulunmuştur. Sonuç: Çalışmada öğrencilerin HPV aşısı ve hastalığı hakkında orta düzeyde bilgi sahibidir ve bu konuda eğitim ihtiyaçları bulunmaktadır. Lise öğrencilerinin özellikle sosyal medyayı yüksek oranda bilgi kaynağı olarak kullandıkları belirlenmiş olup, HPV enfeksiyonu ve aşısı hakkında bilgi düzeylerini artırmaya yönelik kapsamlı, yenilikçi ve sosyal medya araçlarını aracı olarak kullanan eğitim programları geliştirilmelidir.
