Özet:

The transformation of rural areas into urban has not only affected the way of life and places, but also the structures and areas where any craft or production is carried out and which can be considered as the first examples of industrial heritage. The mills that grind wheat and corn produced for the local people and the animals they feed also benefited from this change. With the development of production technologies and the transition to the fabrication system in the grinding process, many of the mills have started to be abandoned and then remained idle, causing them to be demolished. However, the water mills built on the waterways are structures that are related to the geographical structure of the area, using the slope efficiently, compatible with the topography, and also have not only architectural but also archaeological value for the areas where they are located. In particular, the equipment and metal parts where the water is discharged, the grinding process is carried out and the ground grains are transferred are the parts that make up the industrial archeology. Isparta old city center consists of Dere, Doğancı, Yenice and Emre Neighborhoods. Water-based structures such as fountains, baths, mills, laundry and yarn dyeing houses were built on the Andık Stream, which is an important water source of this region. Among these structures, the urgent needs for conservation of two Isparta mills, which are the findings of industrial archeology, attracted attention. For this reason, in this study, first of all, the waterways were determined, then the mills, whose existence is known from archive sources, but which have not survived, and which are still standing today, are listed. The idle Bıtrak and Hüseyin Baş Mills were studied in the context of conservation. Architectural and structural features and preservation status of these mills, which are examples of industrial archeology, were discussed and suggestions were developed for their preservation. In the study, on-site observation, measurement and photographing methods were used.
