It is known
that math course is the worst nightmare of many students because of its abstract
content. This situation affects the students’ interests, attitudes and love for
maths in a negative way. Therefore, a meaningful learning can be implemented
and the students can achieve success when the abstract content is concretized.
To achieve this, smart boards that are included in the educational technologies
can be used. One of the essential conditions to be able to use this educational
technology effectively in the class and to provide success is to what extent
students internalize it. The aim of this research was to investigate the middle
school students’ attitudes towards using smart boards in mathematics course.
This research was conducted with survey methods. The participants of the study consisted of a total of 220  and  grade students. Personal information forms and attitude scales for smart
boards were used as data collection tools. Mann Whitney u-test, Kruskal Wallis
test and regression analysis were used to analyze the data. In this research,
it was determined that middle school students’ attitudes towards using smart
boards were positive and students’ attitudes significantly differ in terms of
gender, grade level, mathematics achievement level, information technology
achievement level and their academic achievement level. In addition, it was
found that mathematics course, information technology course and their general
academic scores were predictors of attitude towards smart board use at
low-level.

Matematik
dersi soyut bir içeriğe sahip olmasından dolayı birçok öğrencinin korkulu
rüyası olduğu bilinmektedir. Bu durum öğrencilerin matematiğe karşı ilgilerini,
tutumlarını ve sevgilerini olumsuz yönde etkilemektedir. Bu soyut içerik ne
kadar çok somutlaştırılırsa öğrencide anlamlı öğrenme gerçekleşebilir ve başarı
sağlanabilir. Bunun için eğitim teknolojilerinden akıllı tahta kullanılabilir.
Bu eğitim teknolojisinin derslerde etkili şekilde kullanılabilmesi ve başarı
sağlanması için temel şartlardan biri öğrencinin bu teknolojiyi ne derece
kabullendiğidir. Bu araştırmada, ortaokul öğrencilerinin matematik derslerinde
akıllı tahta kullanmaya yönelik tutumlarının incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır.
Araştırma, tarama yöntemi kullanılarak yürütülmüştür. Bu çalışmanın
katılımcıları bir il merkezinde öğrenim gören 5 ve 6. sınıfta öğrenim gören
toplam 220 ortaokul öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Kişisel bilgi formu ve akıllı
tahta kullanımına yönelik tutum ölçeği veri toplama araçları olarak uygulanmıştır.
Elde edilen veriler Mann Whitney U-testi, Kruskal Wallis testi, çoklu
karşılaştırma analizi ve regresyon analizi yapılarak analiz edilmiştir.
Araştırmada ortaokul öğrencilerinin matematik dersinde akıllı tahta kullanmaya
yönelik tutumlarının olumlu yönde olduğu, tutumlarının cinsiyet, sınıf,
matematik başarı düzeyi, bilişim teknolojileri dersi başarı düzeyi ve genel
akademik başarı düzeyine göre farklılaştığı belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca matematik
dersi, bilişim teknolojileri dersi ve genel akademik notları matematik dersinde
akıllı tahta kullanımına yönelik tutumu düşük düzeyde yordadığı tespit
edilmiştir.
