Özet:

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, known as a military leader and statesman, may not be considered an entrepreneur in the traditional sense. Essentially, his entrepreneurial spirit is evident in his creation of a new and independent state from the ruins of World War I and the collapse of the Ottoman Empire was a grand design and a great achievement. Further, his reforms which reflect his innovativeness and vision, not only fundamentally transformed the countrys social, economic, and political structure, but also created a more favorable environment for women entrepreneurs. In Türkiye, there is still room for improvement in terms of supporting womens entrepreneurship. The latest data from the Turkish Statistical Institute indicates that there are fewer female entrepreneurs than male entrepreneurs. Also, women entrepreneurs face challenges, such as access to capital, discrimination, and social and cultural norms. Accordingly, this study comprehensively evaluates the current status of women entrepreneurs in Turkiye by examining Atatürks legacy and reforms through the lens of womens entrepreneurship. Based on current demographic data and statistics, this article recommends pathways to address the challenges faced by women entrepreneurs. This study expands and contributes to the literature in terms of the historical and economic context of womens entrepreneurship in Türkiye.
