Özet:

Demonic beings, which hold a significant place in Turkish culture and belief, have maintained their vitality by existing within Turkish mythology and shamanism up to the present day. In Turkish mythology, these entities, which have gradually evolved from good to evil over time, generally appear in nature, plant, and animal cults without attaining divine status, forming a transitional point between the Mythological Mother cult and the God cult. The evolution of these entities, which eventually became anthropomorphic, was shaped by the influence of religious systems. The study of demonology has become a lasting element in the socio-cultural structure of Turkish society and has continued to exist, adapting to the rapidly changing world, particularly in belief-centered narratives such as memorates and other genres of folk literature. When examining demonic beings and the conceptions and depictions of them, one of the questions that comes to mind is: How did the Turkish people conceive of these entities in terms of masculinity and femininity? In the mythology of Turkish tribes and communities, it is known that along with spirits and demonic beings envisioned solely as male or female, there are also entities possessing both male and female characteristics, as well as those without any specific gender attribution. In this study, however, certain perspectives and ideas regarding demonic beings envisioned as feminine and the femininity attributed to them are explored.
