Özet:

Thanks to advancing information and communication technologies, the content of cultural heritage is diversifying and being reinterpreted in the 21st century. Cultural assets, freed from the constraints of time and space, are reaching broader audiences, and doing so more rapidly. The aim of this study is to discuss and reinterpret cultural heritage in the age of digitization. In this context, technological examples of tangible and intangible natural and cultural heritage from the world and Turkey were examined and compared both among themselves and on the basis of the principle of reciprocity. At the same time, the subject of the research was discussed from the opposite positive-negative perspective. When the technological tools and functions used for cultural heritages selected from the world and Turkey are examined, it is said that they are similar. While digitization process offers opportunities for cultural heritage, it has also been observed to pose threats. Based on the findings obtained in this literature review-based study, digitization is an important process in enabling the younger generation to learn about cultural assets while having fun, contributing more rapidly to national cultural awareness, and preserving and accessing cultural heritage for a long time. In this regard, the positive aspects of digitization for cultural heritage are interpreted as broader access, time and space independence, and preservation, while data security, copying, rapid technological changes, and reusability- sustainability are considered as the negative aspects of digitization on cultural heritage.
