Özet:

Industrial Heritage Sites are traces that symbolize the periods in which they were created. Today, traditional production structures and areas are both functionalized and transformed into areas that different users can visit with a route proposal, thus ensuring the protection of industrial heritage areas. Therefore, an economic contribution will be provided to the city through tourism activities. Because routes are important elements that connect geography with concepts such as identity, culture, originality, awareness, regional development and sustainable development, as well as increasing intercultural experience. In this study, a three-stage industrial heritage route proposal has been developed for the İzmir Alsancak Harbor Behind Area. In the first stage, industrial heritage sites in İzmir were examined in terms of their number and location, sub-regions were defined, and an industrial heritage route was proposed for the whole of İzmir by considering these sub-regions together with their centers. In the second stage, a two-stage route within the city center of İzmir was planned. In this way, the heritage areas that make up the route have been determined to be used in other detailed studies and to evaluate their relations with the Alsancak Harbor Behind Area. In the third stage, a detailed industrial heritage route proposal was developed for the Alsancak Harbor Behind Area. The proposed industrial heritage route has been planned together with the size of the buildings and areas and the existing and proposed functions. The study contributes to the relevant literature on protecting and maintaining urban identity and associating tourism activities with culture. It is also valuable in terms of highlighting the study area with its cultural heritage values, integrating it with the social and cultural activity areas of the city, and thus enriching the transformation process of the region.
