Özet:

This study aims to examine the relationship between university students attitudes toward dating violence and their self-esteem and gender perception. A correlational survey model was used to achieve this objective. The study group consisted of 440 university students. In the study, the mean score on the Dating Violence Attitude Scale was found to be 4.731.07 and, it was seen that the students did not support dating violence. The average the Perception of Gender Scale score was determined as 110.713.08 and it was determined that the students gender perceptions were at a high level. The mean score of the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale was determined as 2.341.06, and according to the scale evaluation, it was found that the students had self-esteem above the medium level. When examining the relationship between students scale score averages and socio-demographic variables, it was found that female students and those with a higher economic status had statistically significant gender perceptions, attitudes toward dating violence, and self-esteem p0.05. A significant difference in attitudes toward dating violence was also observed based on the fathers education level variable p0.05. When examining the relationship between scale scores, a significant positive correlation was found between the Perception of Gender Scale and the Dating Violence Attitude Scale p0.000; r0.586. In contrast, a significant negative correlation was identified between the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and both the Perception of Gender Scale p0.021; r-0.541 and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and the Dating Violence Attitude Scale p0.000; r-0.513.
