Özet:

The subject of this article is the graphite slipped ceramics, which were unearthed during the excavations at Pulur Höyük restarted after many years in 2021 and should be considered as a separate group among the Karaz-Early Transcaucasian culture ceramics. Although there are many scientific publications on the Karaz culture, the graphite slipped ceramic ware is not mentioned much in these publications. In the absence of analytical study, the mentioned ceramic group can be considered mostly as glossy black slipped ware or mica slipped ware. Whether the shine on the ceramic surface is achieved by burnishing or by a mineral such as mica and graphite can only be revealed by analytical studies. Micro Raman Spectroscopy, X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy XPS and X-Ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy XRF analyzes were performed on 2 samples from the ceramic group discussed in the article. The aim of the article is to draw attention to this ware group, which has not been discussed before, in the Erzurum-Kars Plateau, which has an important position in the spread of Karaz culture, and to announce it to the scientific world. The article will focus on the geological structure of the research area and the graphite mineral, the archaeological findings related to graphite, the 2021 excavations at Pulur Höyük and the graphite slipped ceramics unearthed here.
