Özet:

Depending on the use of architectural structures over the years, their existing functions may be insufficient as a result of the development of technology and the emergence of new needs. The buildings that we can consider within the scope of qualified production in terms of architecture are desired to be re-functionalized because they are socially and culturally valuable in terms of the region they are located in. In this context, re-functioning studies; Architectural products that are valuable in terms of cultural heritage are handled in a way that will also respond to current spatial needs, in order to bring them together with the user while they are idle. Factors that require re-functioning, such as technological developments, social and political changes, needs arising from population growth, cause various differentiations in user needs. When these differentiations are considered within the scope of the change process and together with heterogeneous space associations, it is seen that they begin to overlap with Foucaults definitions of heterotopic space. The setup of this study is based on the proposal to analyze various industrial structures that have been re-functionalized by taking into account the 6 heterotopic space principles put forward by Foucault. At the same time, Beykoz Leather and Shoe Factory, with its new name, Beykoz Kundura was chosen as a sample in the study aiming to find the spaces where the principles put forth by Foucault, who defines spaces that bring the old and the new together, exist as heterotopia. In the process, its transformation into an exemplary heterotopia space that emerges with the various transformations that the group of buildings has undergone and makes the user feel as if they are in other space will be examined. In the study, first of all, the general literature review method, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in order to address and clarify the concept of heterotopia. Documentary source scanning approach was used for the historical process and various document-based technical information about the area, which is the research object. The backbone of the research process is the analysis of the heterotopic character of the chosen space and the examination of the concept through a concrete space. The relationship between the obtained findings and the concept of architectural fiction will be discussed by interpreting Foucaults earlier principles.
