Özet:

Dara Anastasiopolis Ancient City is an important garrison city established at the foothills of the Tur Abdin Mountains, at a point overlooking the historical Road Mardin Province Turkiye. It is understood from the findings obtained from the excavations that the city, which is known to have been founded by the East Roman Empire Emperor Anastasius 491-518 AD, but it was inhabited before Anastasius. The garrison city, which was built to serve as a buffer zone on the Persian border of the East Roman Empire and to prevent the Sassanid State from accessing the capital cities of the East Roman Empire, was one of the most important encounter areas between the Roman and Sassanid States, the two leading powers of the period. A great deal of archaeological material dating back to the Parthian-Sassani and Roman Periods has been found. The majority of the finds that I can date periodically constitute coins. Among the coins found, East Roman Empire coins dating back to the 6-7th centuries AD predominate, depending on the reason for the founding of the city. The coins obtained as a result of the excavations provide important data about the political, economic activities and political crises in the region. Perhaps the most important data that will enable us to understand the events, border changes and trade relations consist of coins and coin groups obtained as a result of scientific excavations. For this reason, as a result of comparing the coins which give certain date with other findings obtained from excavations, it is seen that they have the potential to solve the problem of chronology or at least approximate period.
