Özet:

This article examines and analyzes the key theories of Gualtherus Hendrik Albert Juynboll related to ḥadīth criticism and transmission. The study systematically compiles and presents Juynbolls central concepts, emphasizing their relevance and application in contemporary ḥadīth scholarship. Additionally while the article offers an overview of his most important contributions, it does not attempt to exhaustively cover all aspects of his work. The methodology employed involves a critical analysis of primary and secondary sources, focusing on Juynbolls unique approach to isnād-cum-matn analysis and his interpretations of the role of collective memory in Hadith transmission. In this context the origins and backward development of isnād and the common link narrator have been demonstrated, highlighting the changes and transformations in the approach to ḥadīth literature. Additionally, the fundamental assumptions have been analyzed. The aspects in which Juynbolls views diverge from those of Muslim scholars regarding the science of ḥadīth have been emphasized. Thus it is aimed to make different cultural and methodological perspectives more clearly visible. Taking into account the consequences of these differences, it is intended to show what kind of impact Juynbolls works have had on understanding ḥadīth literature. In addition, the evidence presented in his analyzes and claims, the lack of this evidence, and the persuasiveness of his findings and claims are also discussed and criticized in the article. Because he focused on the arguments that supported him in the context of his basic claims regarding the origin of the science of ḥadīth and either ignored the opposing arguments or rejected them with problems of belonging. He did not provide sufficient concrete evidence for this. As a result of the study, it has been observed that Juynbolls approach to ḥadīth literature is based on his core arguments, that he interprets sources relatively, and that he makes serious claims through hypothetical discourses. After the verification of the ḥadīth sources he referenced was conducted by us, it was concluded that he was incorrect on many points. In this sense, our research provides a significant contribution by comprehensively demonstrating how a Western scholar approaches, evaluates and analyzes the ḥadīth literature heritage of Muslim scholars, as well as the potential outcomes of these approaches.
