Özet:

Natural environmental data parameters such as topography, climate, sun and wind, etc. that shape the architectural design process are the most compelling factors when making design decisions. By realizing these factors through a collaborative effort, the Burj Khalifa has been a unique example. The building, which is 828 meters high, has developed new techniques and used up-to-date technologies against difficulties such as desert climate, sandstorms, strong winds, burning sun and a weak abrasive ground. In the study, literature review was conducted and current and statistical natural environment data of Dubai city were used. With these data, the design decisions taken in the face of difficulties during the construction process were examined. With this study, it is aimed that the construction, methods and techniques used in the tower will be a source of inspiration for new structures to be built. In order to prevent such a huge building from tilting sideways, the nose and tail parts of the tower were used to control the wind by using the form of a flower called Hymenocallis. Waterproofing systems, increased concrete coating, titanium mesh, cathodic protection system and mold lining were applied to address the problems that would arise in the foundation against a weak ground. Special handmade glass panels were produced to control the heat of the sun. This iconic structure, which managed to rise in the desert against many difficulties, became the commercial center of the city and broke the routine by achieving the Best.
