Özet:

Libraries meet the needs of members of society, bring together members of society with different disciplines such as culture, art, and history, and ensure the transfer of cultural heritage from generation to generation. Libraries take place in social life as places where books are located. However, today, there is a change in the library concept with different equipment areas, technological developments, and a new generation librarianship approach. With the transition from the concept of libraries storing books to the concept of living libraries, the function of libraries in social life is changing. This change is reflected in the service concept of libraries. With special activities for each age group, libraries are transforming into places where social life and interaction are provided. This study aims to explain the function of libraries in social life. To explain this function, the concept of servant library was used in the study. Servant libraries are libraries that live dynamically in social life by providing interaction with community members through different activities other than books. In this framework, the study systematically analyzed the Cat Library, Donkey Library, and Rami Library in the category of Servant Library through a literature review. In the study, it is stated that these libraries have adopted service to society as a purpose and are at the center of social life with different phenomena other than books.
