Özet:

Gobekli Tepe, located near the village of Karaharabe Orencik, 20 km northeast of Sanlıurfa, is a megalithic structure built on a mound of limestone rocks about 200-300 m high. It is seen that the temples of Gobekli Tepe were completely covered with soil after a certain period of use. Three layers were identified during the ongoing excavations and these layers were named as layer 1, layer 2 and layer 3. At least 20 monumental circular structures, called temples, seen in these layers have a circular plan ranging from 10 to 30 meters in diameter and surrounded by a stone-built wall. In the center of these structures and embedded in the walls are upright pillars. In both layers of Gobekli Tepe, there are T shaped pillars in the temples. There are dozens of animal depictions on the T pillars found in Gobekli Tepe temples. There are more than 40 animal species depicted in relief on the pillars. In addition to mammals, bird species and fish were also found. The most common depictions are of animals such as snakes, foxes, wild boars and birds ducks, cranes, vultures, etc.. There are also depictions of animals such as bulls, bull heads, lions, donkeys, sheep or goats, insects and spiders.
