Özet:

Founded in the 12th century, the Toledo School of Translation was a translation school famous for translating Arabic works translated from Greek, Persian, Pahlavi and Hindi into Latin and other Western languages. The fact that Islamic civilization attached importance to science and scientists and established great civilizations in the regions where they were founded attracted the attention of the Western world through wars. For this reason, Europeans established various translation schools and tried to get to know these great civilizations by transferring Arabic works from many fields such as medicine, philosophy, literature, etc. into their own languages. While Assyrians were the pioneers in the schools of translation in the East, Jews were the pioneers in the Toledo School of Translation and Mozarabs, whom the Arabs called Mustarib, were the pioneers. This study examines how Islamic civilization and ancient civilizations were reflected in Western societies through the Toledo School of Translation. The transitional period between Islam and Christianity in Europe had important consequences in terms of mutual cultural influences, played a major role in the revival of inquiry and learning, and paved the way for the Renaissance.
