Özet:

Ihsan Abdulkuddus, who contributed to modern Egyptian literature with numerous works, wrote stories and novels that focus on society. One such work is the short story titled The Bus Thief, featured in the book Bintus-Sultân. The story depicts the arrest of an individual as a result of the challenges they face within society, and it is noteworthy for its successful reflection of the socio-cultural elements of Egyptian society. The aim of this study is to identify the socio-cultural elements present in the story related to Egyptian society. Accordingly, the study identifies four socio-cultural elements that reflect the Egyptian society of the time: the publics lifestyle, economic status, views on the family institution, and belief systems. In this research, a qualitative research method, specifically document analysis, has been employed. The study concludes that İhsan Abdulkuddûs deeply explores the elements mentioned in The Bus Thief and effectively portrays their impact on both the individual and society.
