Özet:

RReligion is one of the most fundamental phenomena that make up a society. Religion, which basically makes sense of the purpose of human existence, has influenced society in moral, political, literary, economic and sociocultural fields. Beliefs and the first religious texts, whether oral or written, have a literary character. In this respect, religion has directly influenced the emergence of literary texts and increased its functionality through the expressive power of literature, while literature has increased its richness of expression by feeding on religion. Because the common means of expression used by both of them in explaining the truths is language. The unity of religion and literature, which is as old as the history of humanity, has brought with it the influence and nourishment of each other. Works examining this interaction have emerged in every period of history. In this respect, İskender Palas novel Shah and Sultan, which is the subject of this study, is analyzed in terms of how the factor of faith affects social life and how the phenomena of Kızılbaşism and Sunnism are depicted in the novel. In the study, it is questioned what kind of meaning the author attributes to the concepts of Kızılbaşlık and Sunnism. In the research, the concepts of Kızılbaşlık and Sunnism are taken into the center and the possibilities and competencies of sociology of literature are utilized. Sociology of literature is a discipline that examines social life and social institutions, norms and values with its own unique techniques. Sociology of literature, which not only reflects the expression and feelings of the author but also reveals the beliefs, traditions, customs, lifestyle and way of thinking of the society in which the literary work is written, is a product of the interaction of society and literary institutions. In the novel, which reflects the projections of the relationship between religion and society, rich values related to the beliefs of Kızılbaş Alevism such as the jami of etiquette, jami of forty, jami of love, semah, talip, musahip, tevella and teberra principle are shared. It is evaluated that the novel, which also includes folkloric elements, provides a rich content and contribution to Turkish folk culture in the context of Kızılbaş Alevism culture and belief practices.
