Özet:

Architecture has relationships with various disciplines. Today, architecture and biology are perceived from a different angle in relation to technological advancements and attempts at understanding peoples environment. Biomimicry defines peoples effort to better understand nature and its essence. Beyond finding forms, new designs also reflect the effort to use what is learnt from nature in different contexts. What is learnt is used to diversify construction materials, provide the adaptation of structures to their environment, and make energy and recycling cycles in cities more comprehensive and beneficial. The other side of peoples connection to nature is constituted by negative processes that are observed through rising population, environmental pollution, and climate change. While searching for ways to decrease peoples pressure on the environment, living possibilities on different planets such as the Moon and Mars particularly are searched for. This study highlights peoples efforts to understand nature, protect it, and use the knowledge they obtained from nature in various fields. The content of the biomimicry concept is conveyed as it is perceived in architecture. The topic exemplified through an application in which nature on Earth is effective in the design of a settlement on Mars. The design is conveyed under the theme Designing a Living Space on Mars as a Reflection of Earth. The suggested design for the planet Mars is examined in the context of its relationship with sustainability, form, city, ecosystem and material.
