Özet:

The phenomenon of metaphor is connected with the human experience of the world and the language perception of consciousness, whether rational-irrational or physical-metaphysical. This connection is due to the uninterrupted role of metaphor in constructing knowledge and reality as a phenomenon that shapes language, culture, and thought. In our study, this role has been analyzed in terms of structure and semantics. In this context, firstly, the traditional metaphor theory was discussed on the axis of the substitution theory, based on the views of Abdulkahir al-Curcânî. The structure of substitution theory, its effect, and its figurative language model tried to be determined in the light of various propositions. According to this theory, it has been seen that metaphor is the element that plays the role of naming in the language game as one of the figures in the naming process in traditional language use, and the substitution structure theory is related to the literary manifestation of human's ability to make comparisons. Secondly, the problem of metaphor is analyzed in terms of sentence semantics in light of the concepts of nazm, interaction, tension, and deviation. In this context, it has been determined that metaphor has the potential of a semantic event/discourse that occurs at the intersection of some semantic fields and a new contextual action/meaning that has the status of real action in its context. We concluded that this potential would explain the epistemic or cognitive function of metaphorical expressions to shape language and redesign our concepts, and this also will open the door to new perspectives when looking at religious, political, social, and literary phenomena.
