Özet:

The expectations of the people from the Free Republican Party, which was organized in different regions of Anatolia, differed due to reasons such as economic situation, cultural difference, ethnic identity. When drought was added to the effects of the 1929 World Economic Crisis in Konya The base of the Free Republic Party formed spontaneously. Despite this picture, the intense presence of lawyers in the oppositions organizational staff did not show a parallel image with the grassroots. In the municipal elections, the government and the opposition developed a discourse aimed at solving the negative reflections of the economic crisis. As in every region, the government prepared detailed intelligence reports on the organization of the opposition in Konya. Circassian, Laz, Arab etc. It was discussed from different aspects, from emphasizing ethnic identity to the relations of the founders with the society, and their education-work situations. Although the government associated opposition membersfounders with reactionary elements in different regions, it was a remarkable detail that this situation was not brought to the fore in Konya. On the other hand, trying to associate the oppositions claims that it is necessary to enrich the teaching of religious texts in schools by the government with Islamic movements in the Middle East is a forced interpretation. We see that Konya is at the forefront of the provinces where the members of the Turkish Hearths under the control of the government turn to the opposition. In this study, it is aimed to examine the effects of the Free Republican Partys understanding of politics to solve the effects of the crisis in Konya, on the government and the people.
