 The study aims to determine the effect of activities enriched with the history of mathematics on the attitudes of gifted students towards the history of mathematics in general culture and to examine students views on the history of mathematics. Explanatory Sequential Design, one of the mixed research design types, was used in the study. By this design, 28 students studying at the 5th-grade level of the Science and Art Center are included in the quantitative part, and eight students selected among these students were included in the study group in the qualitative part. In order to determine the attitudes of the students towards the activities enriched with the history of mathematics, the Scale of Attitude towards the History of Mathematics as General Knowledge was used. A Semi-structured Interview Form was prepared to obtain the students opinions. The data were analyzed with non-parametric tests. In the qualitative part, the data were analyzed by content analysis. As a result of the studys quantitative data analysis, it was determined that the activities enriched with the history of mathematics significantly affected the attitudes of gifted students regarding general culture. As a result of the analysis of qualitative data, it was revealed that the students found the activities enriched with the history of mathematics to provide general culture, to support permanent learning, to gain love for mathematics, and to be fun and exciting. It can be suggested that the history of mathematics can be considered an intellectual activity or teaching material that will contribute to increasing the general culture level of students.

 Araştırmanın amacı, matematik tarihi ile zenginleştirilmiş etkinliklerin özel yetenekli öğrencilerin genel kültür bağlamında matematik tarihine yönelik tutumları üzerindeki etkisini tespit etmek ve matematik tarihine ilişkin öğrencilerin görüşlerini incelemektir. Araştırmada karma araştırma desen türlerinden Açıklayıcı Sıralı Desen kullanılmıştır. Bu desene uygun olarak nicel bölümde Bilim ve Sanat Merkezi 5. sınıf düzeyinde öğrenim gören 28 öğrenci, bu öğrenciler arasından seçilen 8 öğrenci ise nitel bölümde çalışma grubuna dâhil edilmiştir. Matematik tarihi ile zenginleştirilmiş etkinliklere yönelik öğrencilerin tutumlarını belirlemek amacıyla Genel Kültür Olarak Matematik Tarihine Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Öğrencilerin görüşlerinin alınmasında ise Yarı Yapılandırılmış Görüşme Formu hazırlanmıştır. Veriler non-parametrik testler ile analiz edilmiştir. Nitel bölümde ise veriler içerik analiziyle çözümlenmiştir. Nicel verilerin analizi sonucunda matematik tarihi ile zenginleştirilmiş etkinliklerin özel yetenekli öğrencilerin genel kültür olarak tutumları üzerinde anlamlı bir etki ortaya koyduğu belirlenmiştir. Nitel verilerin analizi sonucunda, öğrencilerin matematik tarihi ile zenginleştirilmiş etkinlikleri genel kültür kazandırıcı, kalıcı öğrenmeyi destekleyici, matematiğe yönelik sevgi kazandırıcı, eğlenceli ve ilgi çekici buldukları ortaya çıkmıştır. Matematik tarihinin öğrencilerin genel kültür seviyelerinin artmasına katkı sunacak entelektüel bir etkinlik veya öğretim materyali olarak değerlendirilmesi önerilebilir.
