Özet:

Economic performance values measured for countries are an important guide in terms of the economic policies they will implement. Economic performance is generally measured with the help of macroeconomic indicators that are decisive for countries. Annual data on GDP growth rate, inflation rate, unemployment rate and current account balance to GDP ratio obtained from the World Bank database for the period between 2018 and 2022 were used. With the data subject to analysis, the macroeconomic performances of the G7 countries in this period were measured, the countries were ranked according to their performance results, and the factors that played a role in exhibiting this performance were analyzed. The weighting of the variables primarily considered in measuring economic performance was done with the CRITIC method. Then, the analysis was carried out with the TOPSIS method, one of the Multi-Criteria Decision Making methods, using the weight coefficients obtained by the CRITIC method. Thus, in the years considered, G7 countries were ranked from the most successful country to the worst performing country according to the performance score they achieved. As a result of the weighting made with the CRITIC method within the scope of the study, it was determined that economic growth was the variable that most affected macroeconomic performance for G7 countries. As a result of the performance measurement made with the TOPSIS method using the calculated weight coefficients, the German economy was the economy with the most successful performance in the years subject to analysis, while the performance rankings of other countries changed over the years.
