Özet:

As one of the ancient Turkish tribes, the Kyrgyz Turks have continued to maintain their traditions and culture from the past to the present. In any society, the relationships between individuals play a crucial role in transforming, protecting, and transmitting tradition and culture to future generations. The strong neighborly relations contribute to the preservation, repetition, and transmission of tradition and culture in a ritualistic manner, thereby keeping national memory alive. Neighborhood is an important form of communication for human beings who live in communities as a social being. Neighborly relations play a significant role in cultural spaces by protecting collective consciousness and ensuring cultural continuity. In this respect, the direct relationship between the concepts of space, memory and ritual draws attention. In addition to ensuring social solidarity, rituals that take place in cultural spaces have the ability to transfer and recall information and thus activate the function of remembering, which is related to neighborhood relations. Based on this, this study aims to investigate the effect of neighborly relations on cultural continuity in the context of cultural transmission spaces and areas of solidarity. Specifically, the study aims to identify the neighborly relations of the Kyrgyz Turks in urban and rural areas and their effects on cultural transmission. The data examined in this study, based on the concepts of space, memory, and ritual, were obtained through directed and non-directed interviews conducted during field research in Kyrgyzstan. It is observed that neighborly relations are the qualifiers of communication, solidarity, trust, respect, belonging and national identity, and that the Kyrgyz Turks keep the tradition alive in ritualistic places with their neighbors. Traditions hold over despite the new culture that emerged with modernization. This study reports that keeping these traditions alive in solidarity areas and cultural spaces makes serious contributions to cultural continuity. Besides, this paper identifies the effectiveness of neighborly relations in this regard.
