Özet:

Located in the borders of Fethiye district of Mugla province, the Günlüklü Bay is located on the Fethiye-Mugla highway and 17 km from the city center of Fethiye. The Günlüklü Bay, takes its name from the Günlük, that is, Sweetgum Liquidamber orientalis tree located within the borders of the bay. Sweetgum trees are endemic and long-lived trees that have survived from the ice age to the present day. Sweetgum trees show their widest distribution around Mugla in Turkey. In recent years, especially after the pandemic, the need for areas that integrate people with nature and where people will feel more peaceful in every respect has increased. With shinrin-yoku practice, the person rests his body and mind with long and calm walks in the forest. In this study, it is suggested that the sweetgum forest in the Günlüklü Bay of Fethiye, which is an important tourism center, should be evaluated for shinrin-yoku forest bath. As a method in the study, firstly a literature review was made and then field analysis was made and suggestions were made about the applicability of shinrin-yoku forest bath. As a result, it was emphasized that a different experience for both the local people and the local and foreign tourists coming to the region and the sustainable use of Günlüklü Bay, which is home to sweetgum trees, is made to be evaluated outside of mass tourism activities.
