Özet:

Alaşehir district in Manisa province was known as Philadelphia in Antiquity and St. Johns Church actually houses the remains of a church dedicated to St. John the Theologian. The church premises also house archaeological objects from Alaşehir and environs. In the course of our arrangement and documentation work at St. Johns Church we identified Karamanlidika inscriptions, which constitute the scope of this study. Not much is known about the Rums Ottoman Greeks, who burnt the city down and fled at the end of the National War of Independence. Most of the inscriptions presented here are on tombstones and cast light onto the Rums of Alaşehir.
