Özet:

Some reminder figures are needed for the past to take place in memory. The thing that provides this best is cultural materials that are repeated in a geography or culture and transferred from generation to generation. These materials such as songs, mani, decorations, celebration rituals, dances, clothing, eating and drinking are the transmitting elements of culture and memory. In this study, the story of Kütahyalı Kız in Sevinç Çokums story book Rozalya Ana was examined through the concept of cultural memory, and attention was paid to how cultural codes such as Kütahyas identity accents, holy texts, Mevlevi, poems, manis, ornaments belonging to the city and food were processed. The main character of the story is Seyfi, a literature teacher who works in Istanbul and visits his family in Kütahya, where he was born and raised due to the public holiday. Returning to Kütahya is also a return to the past, the lifestyle of the society and cultural memory. While wandering the streets of the city with his father, Çinici Feyzullah Bey, and browsing the historical sites, Seyfi remembers his childhood and the embroidery girl Sülün, whom he liked when he was young. In the story, the person who meets the phrase girl from Kütahya is Sülün. With all this, every corner of the city is re-established and shaped in his memory. The reasons why Sevinç Çokum chose Kütahya as the city is its contributions to Turkish culture. In short, in this study, the traditions and lifestyle of a geography are explained through a fictional text like the story, and it has been seen how people living in the same culture have a common memory.
