Özet:

Tea Camellia sinensis L. O. Kuntze plant can live for 100 years, however, it is observed that in gardens, the yield decreases economically and the shoots start to turn blind after the age of 50. In order to increase the yield in gardens with decreasing yield, rejuvenation pruning is also seen as an effective method in addition to the renewal of tea gardens. In this study, the effect of pruning, which is mandatory with the support provided by ÇAYKUR, on yield is revealed. While the yield was 852 kgda in 1994, when pruning was first made mandatory by ÇAYKUR, an increase in yield was observed in the years when the pruned tea gardens returned to yield, with yields reaching 1.275 kgda in 1998 and 1.427 kgda in 1999. In the years following the first rejuvenation pruning, our countrys tea yield increased compared to 1994 and the years before although there were fluctuations due to the effects of climatic factors. In years when the realization rate of the areas that needed to be pruned exceeded 90, a higher increase in yield was observed and 1.895 kgda tea yield occurred in 2018. In addition to rejuvenation pruning in our countrys tea fields, renewal works need to be accelerated. For sustainable tea agriculture, renewals need to be done with productive, abiotic and biotic stress-resistant tea genotypes.
