Özet:

Mahmut Celâl Bayar 1883-1986 lived a life of over 103 years, which is rarely seen among political figures in Turkish and world history. Moreover, he had many titles and roles in each period of his life. He sometimes received praise and sometimes criticism in these roles. What is really surprising is that even the last years of his century-long life were intense. This situation stems from the great political interest Bayar received in these last years. Undoubtedly, the main factor behind this is the political conditions created by the September 12 coup that created the political climate of the period. The political order created from scratch and the current politicians being banned will make Bayar a center of attraction for a new faces in politics. This interest in Bayar during his last years continued in the days following his death. Because Bayars death brought with it the agenda of his burial in Anıtkabir and some political discussions. In this context, the article deals with Celâl Bayars last years, when he was seen as the authorization authority of the centre-right, which was the last of his titles and roles. While examining the historical process of this role attributed to Bayar, an evaluation is made in terms of Bayars perspective on the September 12 coup, his health in recent years, his writing and political activities, the interviews and statements he gave, and the issues he drew attention to. In addition, the process from his death to his burial is included, along with the discussions it brought. In this regard, the study aims to analyze the political meaning of the last years of Celâl Bayars life, which coincided with the 1980s, who had a century-long life.
