Özet:

Video games today have turned into an essential commodity with the use of art, design, science-technology, and marketing strategies. Video games are constantly evolving, thanks to the target audience created and the goals of game developers to make big profits. One of the most critical factors of this development is the environment and space designs created during the game production process. In this research, the differences and similarities in the perception of environment and spaces in the physical world of environment and space designs that are presented as 2 dimentional but perceived as 3 dimentional in video games were examined. An effective narrative language is created by combining the setting of the past, present or future environment and space design with the basic rules of cinematography. Thus, as a result of enabling the acquisition of almost real-like images with very high resolution images supported by 3 dimentional game engines, the transfer of video games to another dimension today constitutes the contribution of this research to the literature. It is very difficult for the games that use environment and space designs designed without considering the perception of the player and without detailing, to achieve the expected success because they do not provide enough satisfaction for the player. Therefore, in this study, the effect of environment and space design, which is one of the most important factors affecting the success of a game, on player perception was examined. As a result of the research; In video games, the importance of well-designed environment and space designs that enable the player to interact and move in the game to the success of the game has been emphasized.
