Özet:

Cultural mediation as a concept was defined and explained in the literature by Stephen Bochner in 1981. It is based on situations in which cultural elements cannot be received or even understood in an unaided, unmediated way. The concept of cultural mediation is encountered in situations such as entertainment, acculturation, the formation of regional awareness, the expression of cultural identity, the expansion of cultural gain and the transition from one social position to another. Culture, as a means of producing meaning, always needs cultural mediators to be comprehended. Since the culture of a region is formed through more than one factor, it needs written or oral mediation for interaction between other cultures. Today, thanks to the mass communication tools developed with the development of technology, new media tools serve as this mediator. How new media tools perform this cultural mediation constitutes the problem of this research. The study was conducted with the case study method. Yusufeli district of Artvin was taken as a sample. In Yusufeli, which has lost many of its urban elements due to being under the dam, it was investigated how cultural transfer is made through digital media and how digital media reveals the role of cultural mediation in this transfer. In this context, a youtube channel and a digital game set in Yusufeli were analyzed. As a result of the research, it was found that the cultural mediation function of digital content will contribute to the sustainability of urban memory.
