Özet:

In recent years, a significant increase has been observed in postgraduate theses written in the field of recreation. For this purpose, data were obtained from the database of the Council of Higher Education Thesis Center YÖKTez. The theses were searched using the keyword recreation, and efforts were made to access all postgraduate thesis studies conducted in this field. An examination of studies conducted between 1982 and 2024 revealed that 640 postgraduate theses were accessible, and these theses were included in the study. The included theses were evaluated based on criteria such as the year of publication, academic disciplines, universities where they were published, the cities and regions of these universities, research methods, and the gender of the authors. The data obtained were analyzed using bibliometric analysis, with percentages and frequency distributions examined. The findings revealed that postgraduate theses in the field of recreation commonly addressed the concept of recreation in connection with tourism, sports, and landscape. Future studies can expand the scope of research by including additional criteria beyond those considered in this study. Furthermore, incorporating articles, book chapters, and conference proceedings alongside postgraduate theses could enhance the contribution to the literature in the coming years.
