Özet:

The evolving societal life and changing communication technologies have altered the way municipalities and the citizens within their boundaries communicate. Along with new communication methods, municipalities, aiming to be re-elected and to appear favorable to their target audience, have begun to emphasize social responsibility projects in addition to their primary duties. The aim of this study is to identify the digital communication methods used by municipalities, a local administrative unit, while conducting social responsibility activities, to determine the message conveyed in the visuals used, and to present data measuring the impact of corporate social responsibility campaigns on guiding society by comparing pre- and post-campaign data. Digital channels used by İnegöl Municipality were examined over a 7-month period from November 2022 to June 2023, and the identified recycling campaigns were analyzed using content analysis. Subsequently, the collection data of special recycling materials before, during, and after the campaign were compared, and a social impact analysis, one of the qualitative research methods, was conducted. Literature review revealed no studies measuring the social impact of corporate social responsibility campaigns carried out by municipalities. Therefore, this study is significant in contributing to the literature. At the end of the study, it was found that İnegöl Municipality carried out corporate social responsibility projects through digital channels, that the amount of recyclables, which couldnt be collected for days or even months, was gathered within a few days of the campaign, and that recycling awareness was created post-campaign, leading to the continued collection of special recycling wastes.
