Özet:

Düşünen Adam is a weekly news magazine published between 1961 and 1962. The magazine was published in 68 issues by Gökhan Evliyaoğlu and Hami Tezkan, who were both Justice Party deputies. It appeals to the base of the former Democrat Party, which was a victim of the May 27, 1960 coup, and directly supports the Justice Party. The magazine, which began its activities during the transition to civilian life after the 1960 coup, makes it easier for us to understand how the former DP base approached the coup. There is no criticism or commentary on the May 27 coup in the magazines pages, and in fact, the soldiers are praised for bringing peace to the country and ending the chaos. It is believed that the putschists, who are called uniformed revolutionaries, will correct the failing aspects of Turkish democracy. The magazine, which does not directly criticize the soldiers, sees the CHP as responsible for what happened. The magazines writers wrote articles on how an opposition party should be, criticized the CHPs old and new wrong policies, and tried to explain why the Turkish people stayed away from the party. In line with the magazines attitude of not criticizing the coup plotters, the Yassıada Trials were also interpreted in a very impartial manner. The magazines foreign policy approach continues in line with the old DPs politics. The magazine, which sees the fight against communism as a way of life, advocates cooperation with the US on all issues and calls on intellectuals and the government to take action against the increasing leftist activities in the country. The magazine, which has a very rich content, became the most important magazine of the right-wing press in the short time it was published, and contributed to the adaptation of the new period with its soothing discourses towards the victims of the coup.
