Özet:

The aim of this study is to examine Turkeys participation statistics in international equestrian activities and assess the current status of equestrian sports in the country. To this end, data on the number of riders, horses, and event participation in Turkeys international competitions from 2020 to 2024 were analyzed. The research results show that during this period, the number of riders in Turkey increased by 876, the number of horses by 623, and participation in events by 1600. The growth observed, particularly in the post-pandemic period, highlights Turkeys development and enhanced competitiveness in the international equestrian arena. Furthermore, the development of equestrian sports has not been limited to the increase in the number of participants but has also progressed in parallel with horse breeding and training. Although there was a temporary decline due to the effects of the pandemic and natural disasters such as earthquakes, a strong recovery has been observed by 2024. Finally, various recommendations have been made to further strengthen Turkeys position in international equestrianism. These recommendations include the establishment of equestrian schools, the creation of national equestrian centers, the development of special support programs to promote the sport, encouraging scientific research through collaborations with universities, and preparing strategic plans for local horse breeding.
