Özet:

Sufficient and stable household savings significantly contribute to sustainable domestic savings as desired. For this reason, household savings, also called domestic savings, are crucial in vigorously implementing sustainable growth and development policies. While domestic savings have important effects on macroeconomic variables, on the other hand, macroeconomic variables also have important effects on saving behaviour since they impact households economic situations. Aside from the economic situation of households, demographic situations also determine saving behaviour. In order to analyze the saving behavior of households in a healthier way, economic and demographic variables should be evaluated. Thus, in this study, demographic and economic factors affecting household savings, having an essential role in sustainable growth and development, on household saving behavior in Turkey were analyzed. The study reveals important results in terms of revealing the possibilities that affect the saving behavior of the independent variables used in the model. The logistic regression model is utilized in this study, using data from the Household Budget Survey conducted by the Turkish Statistical Institute in 2019. Results from the analysis partially support the validity of the Permanent Income Hypothesis, Absolute Income Hypothesis and Precautionary Saving Hypothesis.
