Özet:

This study proposes a semi-quantitative risk scoring model to improve risk assessment processes in highly hazardous sectors such as mining. Based on the observation that traditional risk matrices are inadequate in sectors with a large number of hazard elements, a model that OHS professionals can easily understand has been developed. The proposed model is based on the probability parameter adapted from the Failure Mode and Effects Analysis FMEA methodology, and also includes severity and OHS Level parameters developed as a result of extensive literature research. The risk score is calculated with a logarithmic approach and expressed as percentage values between 1 and 100. Within the scope of the research, a survey was conducted with OHS professionals in three underground coal mines in the Soma region of Turkey and two underground metal mines in the Marmara region. As a result of multiple regression analysis, the weight coefficients assigned to the model parameters were determined, and it was determined that the OHS Level parameter had the greatest impact on the risk score with 50.04. This was followed by Severity 31.82 and Probability 18.14 parameters, respectively. These results show that the proposed model can contribute to risk assessment processes in the mining industry and offer an alternative approach to OHS professionals.
