Özet:

In Turkish states, the ruler is accepted as the main ruler of the state. Although the channel of power is the ruler, states have had various areas of endeavor in social, political, economic and cultural terms. Therefore, the rulers needed an assistant who could convey information from different areas of the state and advise them. At this point, the institution of deputyship wakil and viziership came into play. The tradition of being a wakil and a vizier was also continued in the State of Baburids established in North India. The wakil and viziers who strategically supported the Baburids rulers, guided them, and opened horizons with their ideas have gone down in history. In this research, famous names in the political field from the beginning of the State of Baburids 1526 to the end of the Aurangzib period are included 1707. Those who held the positions of vizier and wakil took on responsibilities to ensure that the wheels of government worked properly and smoothly, and provided information and consultancy to the ruler. They regulated the regular functioning of the state levels in line with the duties and powers they assumed. Based on this, the aim of the study is; to eliminate the misconceptions of the institution of wakil and vizierate that existed in the politics of the State of Baburids and to show the hierarchy between these offices. This study examines the prominent political figures in the State of Baburids until the beginning of the 18th century from a general perspective. Therefore, rather than just the political career of a single bureaucrat -since it is a comparative research- the wakilviziers who were active in the process until Aurangzebs death were examined. Both scanning method and comparative research method were used in the study. With these methods, the conceptual roles of vizier and wakil offices were separated and the prominent wakil and viziers of the State of Baburids between 1526 and 1707 were investigated. Thanks to these findings, it is aimed to underline an important debate in the literature.
