Özet:

Migration movements have been a phenomenon that individuals have continuously faced throughout history, leading to various consequences for countries. This study aims to reveal the impact of mass migration movements on the Turkish economy. A comprehensive literature review was conducted, and a qualitative research method was employed in preparing the study. The study focuses on the case of Mersin province, examining businesses established by migrants in this region. Information on firms founded in Mersin was obtained from the Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry MTSO, and inferences were made based on the relevant data. The research findings indicate that mass migration movements have both positive and negative economic effects on Turkey. Mass migration has contributed to commercial activities in Mersin, increasing the volume of exports and thereby positively influencing economic growth. Considering the countries to which businesses headquartered in Mersin export, it can be stated that the relationships migrants have established with foreign markets have led to an expansion in export volume. While informal employment has made it more difficult for the local population to find jobs, employment has been positively impacted by the recruitment of personnel in migrant health centers. Additionally, the provision of education and healthcare services to migrants has resulted in additional public finance expenditures.

Göç hareketi, tarih boyunca bireylerin sürekli karşı karşıya kaldığı bir olgu olup ülkeler açısından çeşitli sonuçlar doğurmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, kitlesel göç hareketlerinin Türkiye ekonomisine etkisini ortaya koymak amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma hazırlanırken detaylı literatür taraması yapılmış olup nitel araştırma yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada Mersin ili örneği ele alınmış olup göçmenlerin Mersin ilinde açmış oldukları firmalar incelenmiştir. Mersin ilinde kurulan firmalar ile ilgili bilgiler MTSO Mersin Ticaret ve Sanayi Odası dan alınmış olup ilgili veriler üzerinden çıkarımlar yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda kitlesel göç hareketlerinin Türkiye üzerinde olumlu ve olumsuz bazı ekonomik etkiler yarattığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Kitlesel göç hareketleri Mersin ilindeki ticari faaliyetlere katkı sağlayarak ihracat miktarını artırmış ve buna bağlı olarak ekonomik büyüme olumlu etkilenmiştir. Kanuni merkezi Mersin olan işletmelerin ihracat yaptığı ülkeler göz önüne alındığında kitlesel göç hareketiyle Türkiyeye gelen göçmenlerin yabancı pazarlarla kurdukları ilişkiler sayesinde ihracat hacminin arttığını söylemek mümkündür. Kayıt dışı istihdam nedeniyle yerli halk iş bulmakta zorlanmış ancak kurulmuş olan göçmen sağlığı merkezlerine alınan personeller sayesinde istihdam olumlu etkilenmiştir. Göçmenlere verilen eğitim ve sağlık hizmetleri kamu maliyesine ek harcamalar oluşturmuştur.
