Özet:

Tourism data includes various numerical statistics data related to the tourism sector of a country or region. These data are used for the size, emergence, activity, implementation and experience of the tourism sector. The data kept in tourism is usually evaluated in a comparative manner, considering progress and development-based activities. Such statistics are used to study the work of the tourism sector, disseminate tourism policies, formulate marketing strategies and monitor changes in the sector. Data on tourism in Turkey includes recorded data regularly compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute TurkStat, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey and other official institutions. Therefore, the main purpose of this study is to descriptively evaluate the data on tourism statistics of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Turkey. These evaluations are to determine the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on tourism, to make comparisons on the data by years, and to determine the reflections of current tourism data on the social studies course. This research was conducted according to a case study in which quantitative and qualitative data were used together. The data were analyzed and interpreted by content analysis under the heading of themes. According to the results of the research, it can be said that the Covid-19 pandemic has a negative impact on tourism activities as understood from the tourism statistical data for the 2019-2023 period. In addition, current tourism data are not reflected in the tourism topics in the social studies course, and only some descriptive and explanatory information on the subject is included.
