Özet:

The subject of this article is eight inscribed votive steles located in the Uşak Museum, believed to belong to the Eastern Lydia Region during the Roman Empire period. The inscriptions on these steles generally cover issues that arose in daily life between individuals, families, communities and representatives of local communities, which were considered to be the result of challenging and often controversial, long-term events, and which sought to best defend the interests of the community and the temple to which they belonged. The focus of the article is on the relationships between individualfamily, temple, and community and communication between the temple and the community, which has not been sufficiently emphasised in previous regional studies, is at the centre of this article. The most significant factor in the emergence of these steles is the events involving individuals, society, and local temple officials in small village communities. The study aims to offer a new perspective by focusing on the roles people assumed in religious life between society and temple; it provides information about the typology and iconography of votive steles, as well as the reflections of society and temple relations in this region during the Roman period on local art.
