Özet:

Aim: Problems arising from the increase in global warming climate change, loss of natural life, etc. largely affect our lives. This article was conducted to determine university students thoughts about global warming and its effects on solastalgia. Method: The study was conducted as a descriptive study for students studying in the nursing department of a university between 13.04.2023-13.08.2023. 250 volunteer students participated in the research. The data obtained was analyzed with the SPSS 22.0 statistical package program. Chi-square test, Man Whitney U test and Pearson correlation analysis were used in statistical analyses. Sociodemographic introductory form, Global Warming Perception and Opinion Determination Scale, Climate Change Anxiety Scale and Global Warming Knowledge Determination Scale were used to collect the data. Data was collected through online Google forms. Ethics committee approval and informed consent were obtained from the students for the study. Results: The average age of the students is 20.100.69. 99.2 of the students stated that they had heard of the term global warming. It was determined that 83.6 of the students did not receive education on global warming. Students evaluated their knowledge level about global warming as poor 66.4.More than half have changed their behavior in daily life to prevent global warming 52.8. It was determined that cognitive impairment, one of the sub-dimensions of the Climate Change Anxiety Scale, was higher in students. There is a statistically significant difference between students gender and their knowledge about climate change anxiety and global warming, between class variables and climate change anxiety, and between working status and global warming perceptions and opinions p0.005. Most of the students have heard the term global warming. However, since most of them have not received training on this subject, more than half of them consider their current knowledge insufficient. Conclusion: in this study, it was determined that students climate change anxiety was higher among male students and employees. There was a relationship between hearing the term global warming and climate change anxiety and knowledge about global warming, and global warming affected climate change anxiety by causing emotional and existential distress. The high level of climate change anxiety among those who have not heard of the term global warming reveals the importance of increasing education, course content and projects on this subject.
