Özet:

The concept of beauty related to divine reality was the basic paradigm from the first work written in Islamic Turkish literature to the 19th century. The idea of beauty emerged as a central criterion that shaped philosophical and artistic thought. In the traditional framework of art, literary creations were meticulously planned with this central aesthetic principle in mind. It marked a consistent focus on truthfulness and moral goodness in creative expression. However, classical aesthetics began to change during the Tanzimat period. This was due to the influence of European-centred philosophical movements. The Westernisation process in Turkish literature can be summarised as the encounter with new genres and the writing of texts in Turkish that are suitable for the technical characteristics of these genres. When considering the novel genre, the influence of European philosophy on fiction was discussed according to its relationship with literary movements, but its ability to change the centre of reflection has not yet been considered. The aim of this paper is to reveal the intellectual transformation that creates an observable data field in the technical elements of the novel, which is a European genre. To achieve this, three specific works have been selected for analysis: Muhayyelât by Giritli Aziz Efendi, Intibah by Namık Kemal and Nemide by Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil. The relevance of the research to philosophy is limited to the tendencies of the authors of the mentioned works regarding literary movements. For the concept of reflection, research on mimesis was taken into account in line with the needs of this study.
