Özet:

In the first years of the Republic of Türkiye, there were many transformations regarding the political life. In this process, Turkish diplomacy also opened its doors to women. When Adile Ayda was appointed as a Professional officer to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1932, she had the title of Türkiyes first female diplomat. However, Adile Aydas diplomatic career has followed a course of ups and downs. Adile Ayda, who, in her own words, stayed away from the world of diplomacy for a while due to some obstacles she faced due to being a woman, returned to the profession of diplomat in 1958. The aim of this study is to investigate the reasons that made the diplomatic career of Adile Ayda, who was an important figure in the history of Turkish diplomacy, ups and downs. Adile Ayda, who related the problems she faced with being a woman, did not Express these problems openly. According to the results of this research, her long absence from the world of diplomacy can be associated with her short-lived first marriage and the role of İsmet İnönüs wife Mevhibe Hanım in this marriage. Her return to diplomacy can be explained by the political connections of her father, Sadri Maksudi Arsal.
