Özet:

It can be said that Onur Türkmen tried many techniques in his composition journey and brought many innovations to todays music. Ritualistic Drama in Sailing to Byzantium is one of those innovations. Sailing to Byzantium takes its name from William Butler Yeats poem. The poems of two contemporary poets, William Butler Yeats and Ahmet Haşim, were used in Sailing to Byzantium. Sailing to Byzantium, written for ten instrumentalists, consists of nine parts and is defined as a ritualistic drama on the Moon, Swans and the Spirit. The composer created the piece by exploring the intermediate space that emerges when the concepts of ritual and drama interact with each other. The concept of ritualistic drama in this study was examined in terms of dimension and the meanings of symbols in the poems and music. In this study, the concept of ritualistic drama is examined in terms of stage design and the meanings of symbols, based on the question of how it is constructed compositionally in Onur Türkmens Sailing to Byzantium. The subject of the article, ritualistic drama, was deemed worthy of examination since no example could be found in the field of music.

Çalışmada ritüelistik drama kavramı, Onur Türkmenin Sailing to Byzantium eserinde bestecilik açısından nasıl kurgulanmıştır? sorusundan hareketle sahne kurgusu ve sembollerin anlamları yönünden incelenmiştir.
