Özet:

Turkey is a country that frequently experiences earthquakes due to its geographical location. On February 6, 2023, earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.7 and 7.6 centered in the Pazarcık and Elbistan districts of Kahramanmaraş province caused the deaths of many people in 11 provinces and social and physical destruction. This study examined the effects of the February 6 earthquakes on agricultural production. In this context, the socio-economic structures of agricultural enterprises in Kırıkhan district of Hatay province, their production status, and the effects of earthquakes from input supply to marketing were examined. The main material of the study consists of data obtained through a survey from 64 agricultural enterprises operating in Kırıkhan district. Frequency tables and percentage calculations were used when evaluating the data collected through the survey. In addition, some questions were analyzed using a 5-point Likert scale. As a result, it was determined that earthquakes did not change the crop production pattern, and there was a slight decrease in animal abundance in general. It is estimated that earthquakes do not have much effect on equipment and machinery availability, and therefore there will be no disruptions due to equipment and machinery shortages. However, after the earthquakes, problems in the input supply chain, prices and marketing have increased. In this context, support for input supply and marketing can reduce the negative effects of earthquakes on producers.
