Özet:

Economic growth is one of the most important determinants of economic welfare. Foreign trade plays a critical role among the factors affecting economic growth. The importance of foreign trade has been emphasized since the pre-classical economics period. When exports increase, it affects the countrys economy from a wide perspective, from the increase in factor productivity in the economy to the increase in gains from economies of scale and positive externalities, from the mitigating of foreign exchange shortages to the facilitation of imports of intermediate and investment goods, from the reduction in production costs in export sectors to the provision of new technologies. Countries specialization in critical export commodities and diversification of export commodity groups is one of the issues that researchers have recently focused on. The relationship between exports and economic growth is one of the main issues discussed in the theoretical and applied literature from past to present. This study analyses the debate between exports and economic growth and tries to determine the contribution of sectoral exports to economic growth. In this framework, VAR and Johansen Co-integration Analysis are used in this study to determine the contribution of agricultural and industrial export products to the growth of Türkiye economy. In the study, GDP Per Capita was used as the dependent variable and Gross Capital Formation, Labour Force Participation Rate, RD ExpenditureGDP and Agriculture and Manufacturing Industry Export data were used as independent variables. These data were obtained from World Bank and TÜİK databases. As a result of the study, it is determined that exports of agricultural and manufacturing industry products positively affect economic growth, but the contribution of exports of industrial products to economic growth is higher.
