Özet:

Purpose: It is aimed to examine the historical and architectural features of Buruciye Madrasa, Şifaiye Madrasa İzzeddin Keykavus Hospital and Gökmedrese, which are among the Anatolian Seljuk madrasahs in Sivas, and to examine the spatial setup. In addition, it is aimed to determine similar and different qualities by comparing these madrasahs among themselves. MethodologyApproach: Kevin Lynchs City image book provided a conceptual framework for the legibility of urban space, which was discussed on a large scale and provided a new reading experiment spelling on the structure. Lynchs urban image has been evaluated on a singular structure, creating a new framework. In this new framework, Lynchs concepts were reduced from the urban scale to the building scale and a method experiment was conducted. Findings: It has been determined that similar design decisions were taken in terms of architectural quality in units such as iwan, colonnade with portico, courtyard, tomb, masjid and classroom in the spatial setup of the madrasahs. It is noteworthy that different volumes were added to the madrasahs according to needs and functions, but the courtyard and the iwan were the basic elements that did not change. Originality: This method test has been used to search for the answer to the question of how the spatial editing of the madrasa structures can be looked at beyond the usual. Thanks to this method experiment, the monumental structures analyzed were examined without breaking away from the urban context and their importance in the history of architecture was revealed. Limitations: The reason why Çifte Minareli Medrese was not dealt with in the study, though Anatolian Selçuklu medrese, is because we have not enough information to present today to achieve only the entrance front and compare with other madrasas.
